Ipomoea (Sweet Potato Vine)
×
Color Name: Margarita
Ipomoea Margarita is a vigorous, trailing, Sweet Potato Vine with a mounding growth habit. The foliage is a brilliant chartreuse and will add a pop of color to your combination planters, window boxes, hanging baskets and even your landscape borders, as Margarita makes a great groundcover. Margarita grows 6-10 inches high with a spread of 48-60 inches and can trail up to 72 inches. Even though this Sweet Potato Vine is a robust grower, it is easily trimmed to keep it in bounds. Place Margarita in full sun to part shade and watch it grow! You will notice the color of Ipomoea Margarita will be brighter in full sun locations, and a bit more subdued in part shade.
Growing Tips: Plant in full sun or partial shade. Average garden soil. Sweet Potatoes require ample moisture and sulk at the first hint of drought.
An application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance. We suggest fertilizing every two weeks during the hot summer months of June, July and August with Maxsea, which you can purchase at Zehr's. When planting in containers, hanging baskets and window boxes, we recommend using our potting soil which is specially formulated for our plants.
