Impatiens SunPatiens (Impatiens)
×
Color Name: Compact Tropical Orange
Stunning flowers and foliage! Compact Tropical Orange features variegated foliage in shades of deep green and bright yellow, creating a stunning backdrop for the intense bright fire-orange flowers. Tropical Rose will add excitement to your garden landscape and shine as a thriller in your patio containers.
Flower power in your garden all season long! SunPatiens are the first impatiens that thrive in FULL SUN and HIGH HEAT gardens. Compared to other impatiens, SunPatiens are better in sun, better in areas of high heat and high humidity, and have more garden vigor than most other impatiens.
What makes these SunPatiens so special? They are a cross between traditional New Guinea impatiens and a wild impatiens. The plants have the good sized flower of a New Guinea but now have strong garden vigor that allows them to grow well in all summer conditions. Garden vigor and a slightly thicker leaf wall are the secret to impatiens sun and heat show.
Growing Tips: SunPatiens are as easy to care for as they are beautiful. Like most Impatiens, SunPatiens should be well watered. Plant them in a well draining soil with plenty of organic material. Always, mulch your beds with 2 to 3 inches of mulch to help retain moisture and protect the roots.
An application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance. We suggest fertilizing every two weeks during the hot summer months of June, July and August with Maxsea, which you can purchase at Zehr's. When planting in containers, hanging baskets and window boxes, we recommend using our potting soil which is specially formulated for our plants.
