Phlox creeping phlox (Creeping Phlox)

Color Name: Blue Emerald
Blue Emerald has delicate lavender blue flowers which blanket the foliage in late spring. The flowers smother the dark green, needle-like foliage in mid to late spring. Blue Emerald creates a subtle swathe of color when in bloom. Vigorous, this creeping phlox forms a pretty flower carpet and adds a splash of color to your garden.
A notorious dweller on edges of rocky embankments, where it spreads over curbs and short retaining walls, or amidst rocky outcroppings. And ideal cover plant for difficult edges of dry streambeds or rock waterfalls. Enjoys the fast drainage of elevated spots and thrives in the nooks and crannies of dry stone retaining walls. It is equally at home in the front of a traditional flower border or planted along the edges of flagstone walkways.
Growing Tips: Creeping phlox is a versatile, easy to grow groundcover for full sun. Gritty, slightly alkaline soils are preferred and good drainage is essential. It's a good idea to shear this plant back and clean up any dead foliage in early summer, just after it's finished blooming. This will produce denser foliage and will encourage it to rebloom. Divisions can be made every few years in summer.
