If you're looking for height in the garden, Red Hot Poker like 'Joker's Wild' is among the best. This perennial produces very bright, deep orange flowers. The tall, upright plant is very floriferous so you can enjoy the linear textured flowers for many weeks during the summer.

In zones 4-6, the foliage can be tied up over the crown of the plant in the fall to exclude water from settling there and freezing, which would be deadly.
