Portulaca (Trio Mixes)
×
Color Name: Cupcake Smarty Party
This durable and colorful flowering succulent blooms all summer long in bright colorful shades without deadheading. Cupcake Smarty Party is a combination of three portulacas and is a heavy blooming annual that is well suited for landscape plantings, hanging baskets, window boxes, and as the spiller in mixed containers. The vivid blooms are a welcome sight especially in hot summer when they really come into their own. Portulaca is a great choice for poor, drier soils.
Carefully selected for their performance, Trio Mixes are very popular with all our customers. Trio Mixes blend three varieties of color, texture and habit. They are easy to grow and offer you a simple solution for any DIY container planting.
Growing Tips: Trio Mixes are carefully selected by us for their performance. They are planted in the very best soil and given the very best care. When creating your container, use a quality soil and water thoroughly. Like most annuals, Trio Mixes prefer to be evenly moist. In the months of July and August your containers may require additional water to compensate for the summer temperatures.
When planting in containers, hanging baskets and window boxes, we recommend using our potting soil which is specially formulated for our plants. An application of a time release fertilizer at the time of planting will help to ensure the best possible performance. Zehr's Osmocote blend is perfect for the job. We also suggest fertilizing every two weeks during the hot summer months of June, July and August with Maxsea, which you can purchase at Zehr's. Begonias, Impatiens and most plants grown for foliage normally do not need as much fertilizer.
