Vinca major (Periwinkle)
×
Color Name: Variegata
Variegated Vinca major is a semi-evergreen, trailing ground cover. The leaves are variegated, green and white, measuring 1" x 1½"-3". It features lilac-blue, 1"-2" flowers in early spring. Vinca prefers regular watering and well drained soil. It will tolerate dry soil once established. Suitable for ground cover, erosion control and heavy shade. Once established it will block out weed growth. Mature height 6"-18"
Growing Tips: This versatile plant can grow in full sun to nearly full shade. Full sun results in more flowers, but plants may need extra water to avoid leaf scorching, especially in hot climates. Partial shade is the preferred condition for best overall growth.
Soil: Vinca major tolerates a wide variety of soil types, including clay, but prefers moist, well-draining, humus-rich soil.
Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season to establish strong roots. Once established, it is fairly drought-tolerant but performs best with consistent moisture.
